Tavern Scene - Staff and Dagger Textures
After I was happy with the scene render for now I decided to move onto the texturing process for the weapons. These are the unique items to each character and really are the only visual information the viewer will immediately see and so I wanted to texture them in ways that fit in my mind the characters.

With the wizard's staff I was aiming for making the crescent shape to be some kind of gemstone or precious rock effect to show that it's foundation is a natural material that may conduct or amplify magic, so using a marbled style effect to give a smooth polished look to it, showing the time and effort that has gone into making this headpiece for the staff. I was playing around with the colouring and decided on this for now to give that "magic" feel to it, since it is fantasy the colour of the material doesn't have to be realistic especially paired with the more stylistic texturing process and the veins within the stone itself are reminiscent of lightning streaks, which could indicate the wizard specialising in lightning or electricity based magic. Building off this idea I decided the spiral piece to be almost mimicking a lightning rod or conductor, and gold being a good conductor of electricity it helps sell this idea, although gold is very expensive as to why we don't use it as a conductor, even more so in a fantasy medieval setting, indicating that this is very special piece of equipment and the wizard may have one point been quite wealthy or it was gifted to them be someone special.
Keeping with this mentality I moved onto the Rogue's dagger. The idea for this was a very visual representation of the character being quite poisonous and venomous in the way they act, how they might interact with people and especially with the way they fight. That's why I went for this yellowy green colour for the blade. I also experimented with introducing pock marks in the metal which we see on sickly people and scratches in the blade to show the wear and use of the weapon. The wood I decided I wanted it to be dark ebony as rogues are traditionally dressed in black and so this represents their stealthy nature and it would also blend in with their clothing better. Finally finishing off with the wrap which I tried to make look like a braided cord, again using a deep purple colour to signify venom or poison.
