Tavern Scene - Scene 4 Texturing

Image
One further adjustment I made before attempting the texturing again was to alter the crates to be more exposed and easier to read as to what they contained. I also added in a butchering table as an extra element of what purpose this room could serve and why the carcasses are hanging on the wall.  I definitely prefer texturing in this more realistic style. The amount of layers to the scene that can be added through simple edits such as dust, grime and wear is really amazing and I feel like that depth would have been lacking with the idea of the stylised texturing process I originally opted for.

Tavern Scene - Scene 4

The next scene I wanted to experiment with it being partially an interior and exterior shot at the same time so I decided to create the Tavern's storage room for alcohol and other goods. Again the above screenshots were the first attempt which was revised a couple times with tweaks and improvements. I believe the feedback and iteration process to be one of the most vital parts of improving the viewer experience. Without feedback or my own revisions from sparks of inspiration then the scenes would have remained basic and bland. I decided to add in the crates of spilled food as for this scene I wanted some ...

Tavern Scene - Scene 3

For the 3rd scene I had decided to add some verticality by modelling a staircase that would lead up to some bedrooms within the tavern. Here I would have the opportunity to add actors in the final stages at different intervals of the scene to add visual interest. I also knew I would move on eventually to an interior bedroom scene so in order to setup that, this scene needed to be in place first so that the story can progress from the main tavern area and into the bedroom. After feedback from Josh I decided to remodel this before going any further, the scene felt too big compared to the ones that had already come before it and the height was off. Below are screenshots of the progression into the remodel and texture of the newly revised scene. The rework to the scene felt a lot better in terms of scale, while keeping the verticality and visual interest. As you can see from the screenshots I carried over the gritty realism texturing style to keep within the theme of the previous sce...
