Tavern Scene - Idea Update

 Tavern Scene - Idea Update

So following on from the last post where I updated with how I had gotten on with the animation side of things I decided that for now my best focus of my time while getting my Essay finished as well would be to work on another scene.

I also developed the story/my idea a little further based on one of the responses I got back for the essay and this was from Tim Coddens who is an environmental artist at Larian Studios who helped work on Baldur's Gate 3. As well as this I also received a response from Wouter Gillioen which was brilliant and informative too.

Both of them when it came to adding a visual story into a scene spoke about focusing on making the scene feel interacted with and "lived in". Tim also spoke on how he considers not just what is happening upon the time of the players arrival or own interaction but everything that has led up to that point.

So with my idea I want to further it by create multiple mini scenes and each scene has an underlying message that ties into the seven sins of man which I just find interesting especially when paired in a fantasy setting. So each sin would have its own scene that was taking place in a different part of the tavern and I would like to present them through a narrative cinematic cutscene, each scene comes one after another almost as if we are seeing the liveliness and action of this tavern all frozen in time. I will also be adding in a character that is present in each scene who is taking on the role of the observer of this action so my goal is to make this character clearly identifiable in each segment, with this I may end up attempting clothing or armor modelling to set them apart from the rest.

The first scene I have already worked on I have decided to be the Sin of Greed, since it is the Greed of the warrior and the Rogue not fairly splitting the share of earnings that has led to the argument and subsequent fight breaking out amongst them.

The next scene I am working on is the Sin of Gluttony. This is usually over-excessive eating/drinking/consumption. I am setting this at the bar of the tavern itself and the goal is to have a passed out drunkard slouched at the bar with an excessive amount of empty bottles and tankards next to him and a thief is coming along to take the drunkard's coin pouch which is attached to a belt around his waist. The drunkard of course being completely unaware of this and as a result of his drinking is losing his belongings.

Below are some screenshots of the modelling I have managed to get done so far, however once the essay is out of the way I can focus a lot more time into the practical work again.
